The Layout Artist

   The Task

Your task as the layout artist is to compile all of the information that was collected by your group members, and create a full-color computer-based PowerPoint sideshow brochure that highlights all of the attractions of your destination country.  You will be responsible for presenting this brochure to the class as well.  Although your artistic talents will not be graded per se, you will most definitely be graded on the neatness of your work, your originality and effort, the accuracy of the information included in your brochure, and your overall ability to make the destination sound like a worthwhile trip for our travelers.  Here is what you need to do:

  1. Overall, you will need to complete 12 slides to present to the class.  Each slide will present different aspects of your destination country.  The 12 slides should be broken down in the following manner, and include the following information:
                        A.  An introduction slide that lists the name of your country, your group members and their roles, and some type of cover picture as an introduction to your country.  The picture should be attractive enough that it will entice travelers to continue to look through the brochure.  Remember, use the websites and information and pictures that the rest of your group has already reasearched....you don't need to re-do all of the work that they have done.
                        B.  Three slides need to be devoted to the history of your country (one each for past history, current events, and famous people).  Each slide needs at least one picture (for example, your history partner should be able to provide you with pictures of the famous people...you don't need to do the research to find one), and each page needs a  total of three four-sentence paragraphs that summarize either past history, current events, or information about famous people.
                        C.  One slide needs to be devoted to each of the following topics:  air travel, accommodations, and dining.  Each slide needs a picture (ie. a picture of the hotel, or the restaurant...get this from the business analyst), and a four-sentence paragraph that highlights the most important information about the topic of the page (ie. rates, dining options).
                        D.  One slide needs to be devoted to each of the following topics:  climate, major cities, and major attractions.  Each page needs a picture and a four-sentence paragraph that describes the topic of the page.  For example, if your country is Italy, one of your major attractions may be the Coliseum.  Paste a picture of the Coliseum on the slide, and type a one sentence description of it (where it is and what it is).  Either add more pictures of other sites, or just type a summary of other sites that need to be seen.  Your climate page needs to highlight was type of weather can be expected, and your cities page simply needs to highlight the metropolises of your country.
                        E.  One slide needs to summarize exactly why people should come to visit your country.  Keep this slide brief, but it needs to highlight everything that you think makes your country the best option for travelers this upcoming summer.
                        F.  Your last slide needs to give credit to all of the sites that you obtained information from, and all of the sites that you obtained pictures from.  This is your "Credits" page.
