The Business Analyst


   The Task

As the economist of the group, it is going to be your responsibility to handle all matters concerning money and marketing for this trip.  Here is what you need to do:
 

  1. Your first job is to find out what monetary unit is used in your country.   XE
  1. Next, you are going to have to book a flight to your country and find out which two airlines are offering the best rates at this time so that our company can make recommendations to perspective travelers.  Here are the parameters that you will need to use while comparing airlines and costs:  family of four (two adults, two children under 16), 4 roundtrip tickets from Philadelphia International Airport to the capital city of your country and back,  and first class seating all the way.  Use either:   Travelocity or  Yahoo!Travel or  Orbitz

Now that you have found out how much the travel will cost, you need to consider accommodations for a typical family of four.  Using the websites provided,  find the best priced hotel in the capital city of your country for our family of four for a five night/six day vacation.  Deluxe accommodations are a must.  You are going to have to convert US dollars into your country's currency as well so that we know how much to spend.   Now, our company can make recommendations and suggestions on both travel and accommodations for travelers.  To get you started, use:   Travelocity  or  The Best in the World
  1. Lastly, now that we can recommend travel and lodging, you are going to have to arrange dinner for the week for our typical family of four.  Using the websites provided, look through a variety of restaurants in your capital city and figure out how much it would cost for five dinners for four people.  Each person has a drink, an entree, and a dessert each night.  You can choose any drink, any entree, and any dessert for each person for each night.  At the end of the week, tally how much the total bill comes to for at least two restaurants.  Recommend the one that you feel offers the best variety at the best cost (remember, convert your US dollars so that we know how much to take and spend).  To get started, use:  Travelocity  or   The Best in the World
  1. Your job now is to create a poster that includes three separate magazine advertisements that offer the best options in travel, lodging, and food for our perspective travelers.  You may use the front and the back of the poster if you'd like.  On your poster:
                                Airline:  Create a full color ad that includes the name of the airline and the rates for a round-trip first class trip for four to your country.  Your ad should include information about the airline, and depict positive elements of this airline that will attract travelers to it.
                                Accommodations:  Create a full color ad that includes the name and location of the hotel, it's rates, and it's amenities.  You want to create an ad that will make the hotel seem like the only one that our travelers could ever want to stay in, a home away from home.  See the attached ad for inspiration.   Hotel Ad
                                Food:  Create a full color ad that includes the name and location of the restaurant, typical meals/menu options, and typical rates.  The ad should make our traveler's mouth's water when they look at it.  Remember, we want our travelers to go to this restaurant, so make it as appealing as possible.  See the attached ad for inspiration. Make sure to pay attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  Use color (markers, crayon, colored pencils, etc.).  All pictures must be hand drawn (though your grade will not be based upon artistic talent per se).  Your ad should be effective in that it draws attention to your hotel, airline, and restaurant.  Use marketing techniques that we have talked about and practiced in class to create your series of ads.  Remember, your audience is travelers who are looking for great travel, hotel, and dining options for the best prices.
